Waypoint Supports Department of Energy’s Advanced RTU Campaign Award Winners at PRSM Conference

Since 2013, Waypoint has supported the Department of Energy’s Advanced Rooftop Unit (RTU) Campaign and had the pleasure of collaborating alongside hundreds of Participants and Supporters who lead the market in commercial building RTU efficiency. This is a huge market. Over 60% of all commercial building floor-space is cooled by RTUs; if all RTUs in the United States were upgraded for high efficiency, it would save $6.7 billion and 670 trillion Btu annually.

To recognize leaders in the market who go above and beyond for RTU efficiency, each year the Campaign presents awards to a small group of organizations for their efforts. Today, at the Professional Retail Store Maintenance (PRSM) Association’s National Conference, the following 8 organizations were recognized for their replaced and retrofitted 8,550 units in a single year and realized a savings of $5.6 million.

  • - CLEAResult
  • - Fontana Unified School District
  • - Giant Tiger Stores Limited
  • - H&M
  • - Life Time – Healthy Way of Life
  • - Target Corporation
  • - Ulta Beauty
  • - Xcel Energy Colorado

Congratulations to all the winners! If you’re attending the conference and want to learn more, you can attend the Thursday morning session moderated by Waypoint Manager Marta Schantz titled “How Well Are Your Rooftop Units Performing?” at 8am - award winners from Ulta Beauty and Life Time Healthy Way of Life will share best practices and success stories from their portfolio-wide RTU efficiency activities. (We promise it’s worth the early wake-up.)

Waypoint looks forward to continue supporting market transformation via high-efficiency technologies such as RTUs with advanced retrofit controls, automated fault detection and diagnostics, and high-efficiency early retirement.
